  • Tournament Result - Y5/6 Handball COUNTY FINALS

    Thu 25 Apr 2019

Today was the fifth time in the last four years that Whitemoor have made it to a Handball County Finals event (what an achievement!).

Like with the 2018 version of this tournament, it was hosted at Harvey Hadden Sports Village and saw schools from across Nottinghamshire playing handball against each other for a whole day.

With Whitemoor having medalled at all their previous Handball County Finals, hopes were high of yet more success. However, to keep this record going, it was going to take some effort!

Thankfully, this is what Team Whitemoor did, and in bucketloads. Their incredible teamwork and dedication resulted in many wins in the group stage, which allowed them to qualify for the winners bracket.

Here they played equally as well and made it as far as the 3rd/4th play-off round… After yet more effort and endeavour, they scored enough points to take home the bronze medal! Truly amazing stuff Team Whitemoor!

    Our Y5/6 Handball County Finalists were: Shruti A, Christine S, Inez W, Aliny T, Farrah M, Kuleni S, Vina R, Alessandro C, Travea R, Finnley G, Natijah L and Shalom-Chris O.

  • Tournament Result - Y5/6 High Five Netball

    Wed 24 Apr 2019

This afternoon, our ‘next batch’ of High Five Netballers travelled over to Nottingham Girls’ High school to complete in the 2019 version of this event.

After achieving medal placings in the previous five tournaments, including three consecutive gold medals, hopes were high of a repeat success. The many hours that Miss Proud and Mrs Hall had spent training this group of children after school was another reason for this confidence.

Despite some impressive performances, the height of this year’s team played a significant factor in several losses to the taller and more physical schools we faced.

Disappointingly, these defeats meant we failed to qualify for the winners bracket this year, so could not compete for any medals. However, all present were very proud of Team Whitemoor’s efforts and attitudes – well done guys!

  • Tournament Result - Year 3 This Girl Can Festival

    Thu 04 Apr 2019

Earlier this afternoon, the third of the ‘This Girl Can’ Festivals took place, with it being targeted at those in Y3 this time around.

All thirteen of the girls involved today were extremely excited to have been picked to compete in a range of sports/activities against girls from other Nottingham City schools.

As was the case with the Y6 and Y5 versions of this event, the aim was for the girls to get active in a fun and friendly environment. It was hoped that from this, they would go on to engage with other sports/activities outside of school time.

Whitemoor’s team certainly had a good time and represented themselves, and the school, superbly. Well done girls!

Our Y3 'This Girl Can' Festival participants were: Shiloh B, Chiamaka O, Karampreet R, Anaye C, Krisha B, Megan P, Issabella L, Eylul K, Alyssia D, Ava J, Mia T, Amelia B and Abigail T.

  • Tournament Result - Y2 Infant Agility Festival

    Tue 02 Apr 2019

Earlier today, the second of our Y2 classes travelled over to Lee Westwood Sports Centre (in Clifton), ready to compete in the Infant Agility Festival.

As was the case last Tuesday, the event was organised and run by NTU Sports Coaching Degree Students, with the aim of the event remaining the same: to provide pupils with an introduction to multi-skills activities.

At the start of the afternoon, Team Whitemoor were split into three groups: tigers, elephants and rhinos - with each child wearing a mask to represent their animal, and therefore who they were competing for.

Following this, our ‘animals’ got to participate in lots of different games and activities, such as relay races and stuck in the mud. Some of these events provided the Y2s with their first experience of inter-school sports, as they played against other Nottingham City schools.

A massive congratulations to all the children involved – you represented Whitemoor brilliantly due to your first-class effort and enthusiasm.

    The class full of Y2 pupils who attended today's Infant Agility Festival were: Millah B, Nyah B, Jack B, Michael C, Charles C, Ellie-Mae C, Poppy-May C, Oliver H, Abdullah J, Aziz J, Raja J, Aisha K, Amelia K, Hawa K, Cianna K, Karamjiit L, Tyrese M, Maya M, Sonia N, Tobi N, Kai N, Danise N, Oganiru O, Paris R, Joshua S, Aarv S, Maison W, Nyla W, Ellis W and Ruqayyah Z.

  • Competition Result - Y5/6 Climbing

    Mon 01 Apr 2019

For the fourth year in a row, Whitemoor travelled over to Nottingham Climbing Centre, ready to take part in the Hollygirt Private School Climbing competition.

This year we brought four teams worth of climbers to the event - which amassed 16 children in all.  As in previous years, the other teams/schools were a mix private and state schools (from across Nottingham City).

Over the course of the afternoon/evening, competitors were awarded points based on how high they climbed three walls of varying difficulty, added to points from how far they traversed along a low wall.

Whilst none of Whitemoor’s teams managed to finish in a medal position, we were still incredibly proud of their efforts. The children climbed with great effort and did not give up at any point, however high they were off the ground!

Our four teams who took part in the Y5/6 Climbing Competition consisted of: Magda G, Farrah M, Italee P, Christine S, Zakiah R, Zak P, Alyssia N, Ruben K, Shay A, Sienna H, Zenai C, Sadaf H, Rehan I, Manni S, Sunil S and Zaynab S.
