  • Whitemoor Achieve School Games Gold!

Mon 25 Nov 2013 Mr Bevington

We are delighted to announce that Whitemoor Academy has become the first school in Nottingham to achieve a Gold Kite Mark for sport and PE (from the School Games organisers, in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust).

The award has a set criteria and Whitemoor was praised for achieving all of these, and indeed far surpassing some benchmarks. It is a rare award with only 70 schools nationwide receiving the gold standard last year. Our success was made possible by a strong school vision in terms of enriching children's PE and sporting experiences during their time with us.

A massive thank you to all the school staff, in particular those who have offered their time and dedication to the sporting cause.

Also, a big thanks to parents. You followed us to many different venues, encouraged all our teams and believed in our sports programme wholeheartedly. Your integral part in our success is fully appreciated by all at Whitemoor.

Most of all, thanks to the wonderful young sports men and women of Whitemoor. Your enthusiasm for PE; your desire to excel in competitions; and your impeccable sporting behaviour (whether winning and losing) have made you a pleasure to teach.

Looking to the future, we will not rest on our laurels – instead we realise there are still many improvements to be made. All we can say is: watch out the rest of Nottingham!

  • Nottingham City Sports Awards 2013

Thu 21 Nov 2013 Mr Bevington

On Thursday 21st November, Whitemoor Academy were invited to the City Sports Awards for the second year running, as a nominee in the 'Most Physically Active School' category. To be nominated for such an award two years running is a huge honour.

A nervy wait, whilst other awards were given out, ended in Trinity Secondary school being handed the best sporting school title. A massive well done to them, as they were crowned national champions in three sports and thus deserved such recognition.

Again we must say a huge thank you to all the children, parents and staff of the Whitemoor community for making this year another memorable one for sporting success.

I have a feeling we won't have to wait long before receiving another award.
