These largely disappointing set of results meant we ended today's Notts County tournament with 5 points, which was not enough for us to make it through to the knockout rounds. However, it was a great experience for all our players – especially the girls, who got their first taste of representing Whitemoor in a football event!

  • Tournament Result – Thursday 24th May – KS2 Kurling

    Thu 24 May 2018

On Thursday afternoon, School Sport Nottingham held their inaugural New Age Kurling tournament (at Harvey Hadden Sports Village).

New Age Kurling is an adapted version of the Winter Olympic sport, but without the ice! Teams are made up of 6 to 8 players and the aim of the game is the same as in the Olympics - to push your stone to the centre of a target.

Whitemoor were lucky enough to be able to bring two teams to this new and exciting tournament, with all the children selected being those who display amazing behaviour in and outside of PE lessons.

In what was a fun filled afternoon of Kurling, Whitemoor played with great skill and determination. Unfortunately, this wasn't enough for either of our teams to finish in a medal position.

    Our KS2 Kurling teams consisted of: Sufyan Z, Dijourn M, Mattie C, Tyler C, Peter S, Rajan S, Shruti A, Aliny T, Alicia B, Guveer L, Zaida M and Vina R.

  • Tournament Result – Wednesday 23rd May – Y4/5 Tag Rugby

    Wed 23 May 2018

Nottingham Outlaws was the host for today's Y4/5 Tag Rugby tournament - on what was a sunny Wednesday afternoon.

After the disappointment of last year's event being cancelled (due to very heavy rain); it was great to see our players put in place lots of the things they'd been taught in lessons and after school club.

All the games Whitemoor took part in were played in great spirit, with some outstanding Rugby on display too! Unfortunately, due to a fairly major scoring error, Whitemoor did not qualify for a place in the knockout rounds.

Our team should be very proud of their efforts. The teachers were certainly proud due to the mature way they reacted to such a disappointing mistake!

    Our Y4/5 Tag Rugby team was made up of: Italee P, Finnley G, Natijah L, Ruby-Lea M, Mariah-Lace A, Alessandro C, Cruz S, Jaylah C, Inez W, Shalom-Chris O and Harley P.

  • Tournament Result – Monday 21st May – Y3 Mega Festival

    Mon 21 May 2018

Earlier today, we were invited to take part in the Year 3 Mega Festival, which occured at Harvey Hadden Sports Village.

The aim of the 'Mega Festivals' is for children to have as much fun as possible, whilst trying new and different sports.

Lots of exciting games were played over the course of the afternoon, with all of Whitemoor's boys and girls having a fantastic experience. What's more, they represented our school extremely well thanks to their good sportsmanship and manners.

Our Y3 Mega Festival team conisted of: Farhan Z, Muizz J, Aleena S, Ali Z, Daniel S, Makeda M and Alawrae K.

  • Competition Result – Monday 21st May – Y5/6 Novice Swimming Gala

    Mon 21 May 2018

Yesterday morning, Whitemoor's Swimming team traveled over to the pools at Harvey Hadden, ready to take part in this year's Novice Gala.

The Novice Gala is aimed at entry level / beginner swimmers in Years 5 and 6. Each swimmer competes in no more than two individual races, with a team being made up of 12 children (6 boys and 6 girls).

There were some brilliant events, such as: push the ball walking relay, blowing an egg race, domino castle relay; as well as some individual races such as back stroke, front crawl and breaststroke.

When the final points were added to each team's score, Whitemoor discovered they'd just missed out on a medal - finishing in 4th place. However, all of our team should be very proud of the efforts they put in during their time in the water.

    This year's Novice Swimming Gala team were: Taylor T, Elijah K, Kavan S, Zahrah S, Katie K, Shania E, Jacob H, Rhys M, Shamai P, Aaliyah B, Mara A and Jessica R.

  • Tournament Result – Thursday 17th May – Y5/6 High Five Netball COUNTY FINALS

    Thu 17 May 2018

For the fourth (yes that's correct... the fourth!) year in a row, Whitemoor's High 5 Netball team represented Nottingham City at county level.

Like before, the courts at Emmanuel Secondary School were the host venue for this County Final. During a highly competitive evening of Netball, our Year 5s and Year 6s played against schools from across Nottinghamshire - all of whom were of an excellent standard.

Unfortunately, the odd result went against us, so we did not make it through to the semi-final stage. Despite this, all the teachers and parents present on the night were so incredibly proud of the team's attitude and effort.

As Miss Proud and Mrs Hall reminded the team as they trudged off the courts - to have kept up Whitemoor's impressive record of winning the City Finals every year since 2016 is something which they should treasure forever.

Our Y5/6 County Netball Finalists were as follows: Sophie H, Sahnairi P, Kamara J, Nevaya P, Aiden L, Mason T and Natijah L.

  • Tournament Result – Thursday 17th May – Y3/4 Mini-Tennis Red Heats

    Thu 17 May 2018

Last week, we ventured over to the Nottingham Tennis Centre to compete in the Y3/4 Tennis tournament. This was one of two heats, with only six of the sixteen teams present going through to the finals in June.

Whitemoor's two teams (each made up of two boys and two girls) played 28 matches in total; with individual victories, draws and losses being combined together to give an overall score against each school.

Our children played some brilliant tennis of the course of these matches, competing admirably against the likes of Sycamore, Southwark, Claremont, Southglade, Scotholme, Welbeck and Bulwell St Mary's.

Come the end of the tournament, it was revealed that not only had our A team qualified for the finals (topping their group with 6 wins and a draw), but also our B team had too. What an amazing achievement for all our budding Tennis players!

Today's Y3/4 Tennis team were made up of: Shay A, Alyssia N, Bhakti G, Kuleni S, Reuben K, Abdullah T, Areeb A and Subham H.

  • Competition Result – Thursday 10th May – Y1/2 Key Step Gymnastics

    Thu 10 May 2018

On Thursday morning, Whitemoor's youngest sports team traveled up to Ellis Guilford Sports Centre, to take part in the annual Year 1/2 Key Step Gymnastics event.

This competition is based around individual performances of the Key Step Level 1 routines in Body Management, Vault (bench) and Floor. Each performance is scored by a judge and then are added together to provide a team score.

After many weeks and months learning these routines in after school club, Whitemoor's Gymnasts performed with skill and poise. Surprisingly, they did not score enough points to finish in a medal position...

However, it was pleasing to see teachers from two of the medal winning schools come over to tell Whitemoor's team that they should have been the ones with the medals!

    Our Y1/2 Gymnastics team consisted of: Werner E, Abi-Lea B, Mustafa T, Amelia B, Ava J and Elijah B.
