  • Tournament Result - Y5/6 Handball Finals

    Tue 25 Feb 2020

Earlier today, Whitemoor competed in yet another grand finals - this time it was as part of the Y5/6 Handball tournament.

Following our very impressive performance in the heats, which included a 100% win record, our team were confident of bringing home a medal come close of play.

During the afternoon, our children began to realise that the opposition were much tougher this time around. This meant even greater effort and team work was required - which duly followed from all!

After a number of impressive wins, the odd draw and one loss - a solid points total was achieved. Unfortunately, this was 2 points short of the gold medal and 1 point short of the silver and bronze medals.

Team Whitemoor should be proud of their achievements however. On a different day they could have quite easily come out on top.

    Our Y5/6 Handball team for the finals was: Alyssia N, Katie A, Samya F, Kuleni S, Minky D, Sienna H, Zenai C, Ticianny M, Lewis C, Ruben K, Tyrai E, Jahmar C, Sam W, Lucas S and Harley J.

  • Tournament Result - Y3/4 Sportshall Athletics Heats

    Wed 12 Feb 2020

This morning, a number of children travelled up to Ellis Guilford School to compete in the local heats of the Y3/4 Sportshall Athletics event.

After the success of our Y5/6 athletes earlier in the year (a fourth place finish in the grand finals) hopes were high as to repeat performance, or better, from our younger athletes.

It's safe to say that the children did not disappoint - putting in maximum effort and determination at all times. As the scores from the running, throwing and jumping events were being added together, Whitemoor waited nervously to see if their total placed them in the top three schools...

Thankfully it did - with second place and progression to the semi finals of the competition achieved. A massive congratulations to all the boys and girls involved!

    Our Y3/4 Sportshall Athletics team was made up of: Werner E, Archit N, Nerome T, Naquarn S, Ky'ran S, Malachi E, Eugine N, Elijah B, Kevin M, Hassan S, Ozair A, Mia T, Anaye C, Amelia B, Sophia B, Abi-Lea B, Sukainah F, Shiloh B, Danise N, Karampreet R, Ava J and Krisha B.

  • Football Result - Boys Under 11 NLT Cup REGIONAL FINALS

    Tue 11 Feb 2020

    1. Whitemoor Academy 1 – 1 Kidderminster Harriers rep side

    Reuben K

    2. Whitemoor Academy 0 – 1 Kettering Town rep side

    3. Whitemoor Academy 0 – 0 Boston Town rep side

    4. Whitemoor Academy 0 – 0 Telford United rep side

    5. Whitemoor Academy 0 – 2 Solihull Moors rep side

Unfortunately, these set of results meant we failed to make it through to the semi-final stage. All in attendance agreed that Whitemoor were unlucky not to win their second, third and fourth games - which would have allowed them to progress to the knock-out round.

Despite the above, our team should be proud of the fact they represented Nottingham and Notts County in a regional tournament - something very few children will ever get to experience.

Attentions now re-focus on winning the Under 11s league...

  • Competition Result - KS2 Dance Showcase

    Wed 05 Feb 2020

Earlier this evening, our KS2 Dance Troupe (who are made up of Y4 and Y5 pupils), competed in the annual 'Dance Showcase'.

Like last year, the 'Championships' format was replaced with a more inclusive approach - allowing children of all ages and abilities (from across Nottingham schools) to participate.

Whitemoor's boys and girls had been training for many, many hours in the lead up to tonight's event - all under the expert guidance of Miss Cooke and Miss Mitchell.

This practice clearly paid off, with Whitemoor going on to perform a brilliantly choreographed routine based on the change in dance over the last a hundred years. The dance started off with a Charleston, before evolving into a more modern style.

What a superb effort from Team Whitemoor - well done one and all!

Our team for the KS2 Dance Showcase was: Issabella L, Natai B, Mia T, Ava J, Remae F, Dhanraj N, Malak E, Lily E, Kaid M, Makeda M and Eugine N.

  • Tournament Result - KS2 Boccia Championships Heats

    Tue 04 Feb 2020

Earlier this afternoon, Whitemoor took part in the annual Key Stage 2 Boccia Championships (for what was our third year in a row).

Boccia is a sport aimed at those with physical disabilities, which was reflected in the selection of some of our team. The other children who made up this team had cognition or social/emotional needs.

Due to the popularity of this event, two heats were put on, with only the top four schools from each heat qualifying for the finals. It was so popular in fact that we weren't able to enter two teams - as we'd done in the previous two years.

Thankfully, the super six representing Whitemoor won every single one of their games, thus made it through to the next round. This will be held at Harvey Hadden once again, on Monday 16th March.

Our team for the heats of the Boccia event was: Kyle W, Ife O, Daniel S,  Chantae B, Jai B and Logan H.
