  • Tournament Result – Friday 8th July – Y5/6 Hockey COUNTY FINALS

    Fri 08 Jul 2016

Due to our success in the Hockey tournament (held at the start of the academic year) Whitemoor earned the right to represent Nottingham City at the County Finals on Fridat.

All of the winning teams from the eight different districts of Nottinghamshire were invited to take part, and did so in glorious sunshine.

The day event a long one, with eight games being played over the course of the day. The Whitemoor team played with heart and determination and never gave up, despite coming across some very challenging opposition.

Overall we came an impressive 4th, narrowly missing out on the bronze medal position.

Simply being at the County Finals is a fantastic achievement, so the team should be incredibly proud for doing so well on the day. Also, a big well done to all the teams who took part. We cant wait for next years event!

The Y5/6 Hockey team were: Savita A, Grace A, Luke W, Ajay S and Sam S; as well as Oskar D (injured) and Jamie H (absent).

  • Tournament Result – Wednesday 6th July – Y3/4 Urban Hockey

    Wed 06 Jul 2016

Yesterday afternoon, we traveled to Nottingham Trent University to take part in the first ever primary schools Urban Hockey tournament.

The Whitemoor team played fantastically well and ended up making it all the way to the finals (with only one loss along the way).

In the final we faced the Nottingham Academy. They were formidable opponents, who pushed us to our very limits. With 50 seconds left in the final we were 3 goals down but, through sheer determination and grit, we managed to score 4 goals in quick succession thus wining the game…!

A huge well done to the Y3/4 children involved – representing Whitemoor so well and helping us achieve yet another gold medal! What's even more impressive is the fact that many of these pupils had never taken part in an inter-school event before.

The Y3/4 Urban Hockey team were made up of: Nayara R, Twuan M, Jayden R, Mason T, Aiden L, Katie K, Sophie H and Biraj A.

  • Tournament Result – Tuesday 5th July – Y5/6 Rounders

    Tue 05 Jul 2016

On Tuesday afternoon, some of our year 5 children traveled to Trinity Secondary School to compete in the annual Rounders tournament. We were joined by five other primaries, playing all schools over the course of the afternoon (in a round robin format).

In our first match we just managed to beat St Mary's Hyson Green, followed by comprehensive wins against Southglade and St Teresa's. Due to an error with the scoring, we lost our next match (against Blue Bell Hill) even though we actually beat our opposition!

In our final match we were defeated by a quality Southwark team, whose team was made up entirely of Year 6s.

As the teams gathered back together, we discovered we'd finished in third place (beating St Mary's Hyson Green to the bronze medals on rounders scored!).

A huge well done to all our children, especially given the fact that most of the opposition were a year older than them; they'd had limited training for the tournament; and they were victim of a fairly major officiating error.

    The Y5 Rounders team consisted of: Millie G, Natasha C, Urooj F, Fiza K, Inayaa I, Mason N, Troy B, Alfie G, Castel B and Harvinder D.

  • Tournament Result – Friday 1st July – Y5/6 Girls 7-a-side Netball

    Fri 01 Jul 2016

After our gold medal winning performances in both 'High 5' Netball tournaments, it was time to try and replicate our successes in the 7-a-side event.

Today's tournament was a girls only affair, giving private schools such as the Girls' High and Holygirt a chance to compete. Suffice to say the standard of netball was higher than ever experienced before. On top of this, we weren't helped by the fact our team were so use to playing a 5-a-side format.

Nevertheless, Whitemoor's players battled valiantly and recorded some impressive wins. When points were totaled at the end, the Girls' High School took home gold and silver, with Southwark narrowly beating us to the bronze medal. The girls should be very proud of their efforts, both today and throughout the season.

Well done to our Girls Netball team, who were: Savita A, Kamiya L, Grace A, Jamie H, Megan M, Natasha C and Shania B.
