  • Tournament Result - Y6 Mega Festival

    Wed 17 Oct 2018

This afternoon, for what was the third year in a row, we took part in the Year 6 version of School Sport Nottingham's 'Mega Festivals'.

As ever, the aim of the festival was to provide a greater number, and wider range, of pupils with the experience of competing in inter-school sports. This was certainly the case today as Whitemoor entered two teams (totalling 11 children in all).

After everyone had taken part in a mass warm-up, each team rotated around different sports and activities; including Handball, Urban Hockey, New Age Kurling and Relay Races.

Both our teams should be very proud of their efforts over the course of the afternoon. Although no medals were awarded, we hope the event inspired the children to continue to engage with sport – both this year and when they go on to secondary school.

Our Y6 Mega Festival teams were made up of: Ali C, Italee P, Leigha S, Zakiah R, Tayah P, Michaela C, Sana Q, Peter S, Lewis N, Hayder I and Anas I.

  • Football Result - Boys Under 11 Karnival Tournament

    Thu 11 Oct 2018

    2. Whitemoor Academy 1 – 2 Fernwood Juniors

    4. Whitemoor Academy 0 – 0 Greenfields Primary

    5. Whitemoor Academy 1 – 0 South Wilford Primary

    Travae R

This set of results - some very impressive and some rather disappointing - meant that Whitemoor finished in 3rd place. With only the 1st placed team in each of the four leagues (North, South, East and West) making it through to the semi-finals, our afternoon finished at this point.

However, it was safe to say that our players learnt lots from their time at the Forest Sports Zone, both as individuals and as a team. We know that if this learning is applied to future matches and tournaments, it will bring about greater success for Whitemoor!

  • Tournament Result - Y5/6 Sportshall Athletics Heats

    Wed 10 Oct 2018

This morning, our 'oldest' sportsmen and sportswomen made the relatively short journey up to Ellis Guilford, to compete in the heats of the annual Y5/6 Sportshall Athletics tournament.

In recent times, this event (and its Y3/4 equivalent) has brought about some very mixed results for Whitemoor. The aim for this year was to make it all the way to the finals - but would things work out this way...

After taking part in a series of relay races and field events such as: speed bounce, standing long jump, indoor javelin and standing triple jump; we discovered that we'd score enough points to finish in 2nd place!

With the top 2 or 3 teams from each of the heats qualifying for the semi-finals (held in late November), Whitemoor knew they'd completed the first step of their mission. A massive congratulations to all involved.

    Our Y5/6 Sportshall Athletics team consisted of: Natijah L, Kyan N, Shalom-Chris O, Travae R, Alessandro C, Sam W, Tyrai W, Tyler C, Cruz S, Arnav N, Malakai W, Mariah-Lace A, Jaylah C, Christine S, Aliny T, Vina R, Megan H, Inez W, Glennisha B, Kuleni S and Ticianny M.

  • Football Result - Girls Under 11 6-A-Side Tournament

    Thu 04 Oct 2018

    1. Whitemoor Academy 0 – 0 Scotholme Primary

    2. Whitemoor Academy 1 – 0 Brocklewood Primary

    Ticianny M

    3. Whitemoor Academy 0 – 0 Melbury Primary

    4. Whitemoor Academy 0 – 0 Fernwood Juniors

    5. Whitemoor Academy 1 – 0 Robin Hood Primary

    Mariah-Lace A

These results meant we qualified for the semi-finals (after recording 2 wins and 3 draws - and therefore a total of 9 points). In this knockout match the result was as follows:

    Whitemoor Academy 0 - 1 Southwark Primary

Our players should be extremely proud of their efforts throughout the tournament and for finishing joint third out of the thirteen schools involved.

  • Competition result - Y5/6 Cross Country Relay

    Wed 03 Oct 2018

This afternoon, Whitemoor made their way to a new venue for the Cross Country Relay Race: Harvey Hadden Sports Village.

Although the venue had changed (from its previous home at Colwick Park), the format remained the same... Our boys and girls competed against other teams, with the aim being to run around a long distance track in the fastest time possible!

It takes a lot of resilience to complete a 1500m course, but all of our team members managed to do so, and in some very impressive lap times. In the end, the boys came 15th out of 24 teams and the girls team finished in 9th place.

A massive well done to all the runners involved in the event.

    Today's Y5/6 Cross Country team was made up of: Sam W, Natijah L, Travae R, Alessandro C, Christine S, Mariah-Lace A, Vina R and Jaylah C.
