  • Tournament Result - Y4/5 Tag Rugby Festival

    Wed 22 May 2019

Today's Tag Rugby Festival took on a different form to previous events, with a non-competitive approach adopted. Therefore no scores were recorded, and no medals were at stake.

During their time at Outlaws Rugby Club, Whitemoor played with real intensity and skill, winning nearly every game they played (and drawing the others).

It was clear to see that they wanted to play to win in all their games, regardless of the fact their results wouldn’t be recognised.

Congratulations to all the boys and girls (including some from Y4) for their efforts and attitude this afternoon.

The Y4/5s involved in today's Tag Rugby Festival were: Kuleni S, Minky D, Lucas S, Harley J, Tyrai E, Zak P, Ticianny M and Alyssia N.

  • Tournament Result - KS2 Kurling

    Mon 20 May 2019

Today Whitemoor competed in what was the second ever School Sport Nottingham New Age Kurling tournament.

Like last year, we were able to enter multiple teams into this inclusive event, giving us chance to select children who’ve not played inter-school sports as regularly as others have.

For those of you who aren’t sure what New Age Kurling is: it’s a modified version of the Winter Olympic sport (with no ice involved). As in the Olympics - you win points by pushing your stone into the centre of a target, probably knocking out your opponent’s stones as you do!

Over the course of the afternoon, our players displayed great skill and recorded many a victory as a result of this. In fact, one team did so well they brought home the gold medal for Whitemoor. What an amazing achievement - our first ever Kurling medal.

Our KS2 Kurling teams, two in all, consisted of: Sufyan Z, Tyler C, Zakiah E, Arnav N, Max K, Hayder I, Shruti A and Harley P.

  • Tournament Result - KS2 Girls Football Festival

    Fri 17 May 2019

Earlier this afternoon, a selection of girls from across Year 4 and 5 got to take part in a new and exciting football event, held on the 3G pitches at David Ross Sports Village.

Alongside the University of Nottingham, the FA organised this event to encourage more girls to get involved in the sport and to continue to do so as they grow older.

Our team didn’t need much (if any!) convincing to play football, with similes on their faces seen throughout the many games they played.

Although wins, draws or losses weren’t recorded – our team did extremely well and scored lots of goals along the way. Great work one and all!

The girls involved in the UoN KS2 Football Festival were: Lily E, Freya C, Sophie A, Meerab A, Wanya M, Benan E, Jenan E, Sadaf H, Bhakti G, Sachina S and Katie A.

  • Tournament Result - Y3/4 Mini-Tennis Red Heats

    Thu 16 May 2019

This afternoon, two teams of keen and able tennis players from Y3/4 competed in the heats of the annual Mini-Tennis Red event.

After last year’s success - with both our teams making it through to the finals, and one team achieving a silver medal, hopes were high from pupils and staff alike.

Once all their games had been played, it was revealed that our A Team had made it through to the next round, but our B Team sadly had not.

However, both teams should be incredibly proud of how well they played. We wish the A Team good luck in the finals (taking place in early June).

Our Y3/4 Tennis Tournament teams consisted of: Dhanraj N, Malak E, Nida K,  Jahmar C, Lucas S, Mohammed Subhan H, Fizzah A and Aamina S.

  • Tournament Result - Y5/6 Basketball C.V.L. Heats

    Wed 15 May 2019

With last week’s Central Venue League falling on the same night as our two cup finals, added to our no-show at November’s Championships, this was our first basketball event of the academic year!

Our lack of competitive experience (in this sport) really showed, with a loss and a draw recorded in games one and two. However, as the evening went on, our players developed greatly - with convincing wins recorded thereafter.

Unfortunately, our early results came back to bite us, and we did not make it through to finals night (later this month). Given that we medalled at all three previous Basketball Central Venue Leagues, then this was obviously disappointing for all involved.

Team Whitemoor should still be proud of their efforts though. The development they made in only one night was fantastic to see!

    Tonight's Y5/6 Basketball team consisted of: Cruz S, Natijah L, Kyan N, Travae R, Shalom-Chris O, Dijourn M, Vina R, Mariah-Lace A, Farrah M, Christine S and Inez W.

  • Tournament Result - Y5/6 Table Tennis (2)

    Thu 09 May 2019

No you’re not seeing double - this Thursday Whitemoor competed in the School Sport Nottingham Table Tennis Tournament yet again!

Due to another school dropping out of this week’s event, we were invited to take part today also, which we gladly accepted.

Minor changes were made to the team, with Mattie and Inez getting opportunity to apply what they’d learnt in after-school club in an inter-school competition.

Our teams played just as well this time around, with our A Team making it through to the finals once more. Here they came up against a brilliant Milford A Team…

After some very close games, Whitemoor were just pipped to 1st place. However, they should be very, very proud of achieving the silver medal - what was their second table tennis medal in a week!

    This week's Y5/6 Table Tennis teams were made up of: Mattie C, Dijourn M, Alessandro C, Mustafa K, Vina A, Jaylah C, Inez W and Ruby-Lea M.

  • Competition Result - Y1/2 Key Step Gymnastics

    Wed 08 May 2019

Earlier today it was turn of our Y2s to take part in the ‘Key Step’ Gymnastics competition, once again held in Ellis Guilford’s sports hall.

After weeks and weeks of after-school practice, where routines were performed to Mr Jackson many times, our children now got chance to do this to a much bigger audience!

They did so incredibly well - showing amazing skill and bravery whilst balancing, rolling, and jumping in front of so many people.

When the top five point scores were added together, Team Whitemoor found out they had unluckily missed out on a medal placing this year.

However, all of the boys and girls involved should be very proud of their efforts. We are in no doubt that, come Y3/4, they’ll be bringing home medals for Whitemoor.

    Our Y1/2 Gymnastics superstars were: Ruby-Jade C, Nyla W, Jake M, Sonia N, Jadeanna P and Lilly-Rose C.

  • Tournament Result - Y5/6 Table Tennis (1)

    Thu 02 May 2019

Today’s Y5/6 Table Tennis tournament, held at Harvey Hadden, was a great chance for some of our budding players to put into practice the hours of training they have done this year.

Under the guidance of Chris Turner (from Table Tennis England), they have attended after-school clubs since September - with huge progress being made in their ability since then…

This clearly showed as both our teams recorded some great scores/victories over the course of the afternoon. In fact, one team made it all the way to the finals, where they played our fellow SHINE school: Scotholme Primary.

After dropping lots of points early on, our A Team made a fantastic recovery and reached the elusive eleven points mark just before their opponent did. This meant they claimed the gold medal.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved - your hard work really did pay off!

    Today's Y5/6 Table Tennis teams consisted of: Shalom-Chris O, Dijourn M, Alessandro C, Mustafa K, Vina R, Jaylah C, Mariah-Lace A and Ruby-Lea M.

    Wed 01 May 2019

Whitemoor Academy 1 - 3 Boys' High School

    Tyrai W

Sadly, the above score meant Whitemoor finished runners-up in the second of the NSFA finals they competed in this evening. However, our players should walk away with their heads held high; after all, it was way back in 2012 when our Under 11s last reached this stage of the Chairman's Cup and...

With the majority of this team being in Year 5 or below, we're confident that they'll go one better next year and bring home the trophy for Whitemoor!

    Wed 01 May 2019

    Whitemoor Academy 2 – 0 Southwark Primary

    Tyrai W

    Kiyan A

Obviously, recording such a result in the final meant that we were crowned Under 10s 6-a-side tournament champions (for the 2018/19 season).

Team manager Mr Bevington, and all the other teachers present on the night, were incredibly proud of what this group of boys achieved this evening. What's more, they were incredibly proud of the fact that Whitemoor had managed to win this tournament for the third time in seven years - a mightily impressive feat!

    Team:

    Lewis C

    Harley J
