  • Tournament Result - Y4/5 Quad Athletics Finals

    Thu 27 Jun 2019

Earlier this afternoon, we ventured back to Harvey Hadden Stadium, ready to compete in the grand finals of the Y4/5 Quad Athletics event.

With the best four teams from our heat and from the other heat being involved, we knew that finishing in a medal position would be extremely tricky. This wasn't about to phase Team Whitemoor though...!

In what was glorious sunshine; our team displayed excellent technique, power and pace in all four of their events. What's more, they offered praise and encouragement to each other in bucket loads! We really couldn't asked them to have done anymore.

When scores from the four events that each child had competed in were added together, our boys and girls discovered that they'd finished just a few points short of the third placed school.

Finishing fourth was still a great achievement though and something all our athletes should be extremely proud of!

Our team for the Y4/5 Quad Athletics Finals was: Jordan N, Jayden A, Sam W, Lucas S, Tyrai E, Makeda M, Minky D, Kuleni S, Alyssia N and Ticianny M.

  • Yet Another School Games Gold for Whitemoor!

    Mon 24 Jun 2019

READ ALL ABOUT IT... For the fifth time in the history of the School Games Mark, Whitemoor have achieved the gold standard!

This year, well over 200 pupils took part in inter-school events (in some 21 different sports!). We're extremely proud of reaching such impressive totals, and hope it goes some way in evidencing our commitment to providing all children with the opportunity to play sport outside of school.

As part of the application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and club links. The fact that we surpassed most of the targets set is testament to the hard work of pupils and adults alike.

With the above in mind, Whitemoor's PE and Sport team would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who has helped the school gain this award.

We are also very excited to announce that, with this being the fourth consecutive gold we've achieved, next year Whitemoor will be applying for the very prestigious Platinum School Games Mark.

  • Tournament Result - Year 4 This Girl Can Festival

    Thu 20 Jun 2019

This afternoon, eight very lucky children got to take part in the Y4 'This Girl Can' festival, held at Harvey Hadden Sports Village.

Our team had opportunity to play many different sports during the afternoon, with inclusiveness and fun (as opposed to competition) being the main outcomes.

Not only did the girls have a brilliant time experiencing new and different sports - they also represented school extremely well, thanks to their enthusiasm and politeness.

We look forward to seeing today's participants continue to get enagage with sports in future years.

    Our Y4 This Girl Can team consisted of: Aamina S, Aleena S, Ellie-May C, Ellie-Mae R, Lorita O, Chantae B, Lily E and Meerab A.

  • Tournament Result - Y4/5 Quad Athletics Heats

    Thu 13 Jun 2019

Earlier today, a selection of our best athletes from Year 4 and 5 competed in the Heats of the Quad Athletics event - more latterly know as the Track and Field event.

Despite the recent name change, the tournament format and the host venue (Harvey Hadden Stadium) remained the same as in previous years.

After failing to make it through the qualifying stage in 2018, Whitemoor were determined to finish somewhere in the top four placings this time around.

This determination really showed, as both our boys and girls recorded some very impressive scores in the running, sprinting, throwing and jumping events.

Come the end of the afternoon, our team were delighted to hear that they'd finished in third place, so will be back for the grand finals in a few weeks time. A huge well done to everyone involved - your hard work paid off!

The team for the Y4/5 Quad Athletics Heats was: Jordan N, Jayden A, Sam W, Lucas S, Tyrai E, Makeda M, Minky D, Kuleni S, Alyssia N and Ticianny M.

  • Competition Result - Y5/6 Novice Swimming Gala

    Mon 10 Jun 2019

Earlier this morning, Whitemoor competed in a revised version of the Novice Swimming Gala, held up at Harvey Hadden Sports Village.

As in the past, the Novice Gala was targeted at entry level / beginner swimmers, with each competitor being able to take part in at least two water-based events, such as: distances races, push the ball walking relay and domino castle relay.

However, as it was classified as a ‘Participation’ event, no scores were record or medals issued this year.

This didn’t seem to influence the attitude of the Y5’s who represented Whitemoor though, as they competed with real determination and effort in the water. Great work Team Whitemoor!

Our Novice Swimming Gala team was as follows: Kuleni S, Ticianny M, Sidrah R, Doha A, Sam W, Shaya M, Zenai C, Sunil S, Minky D and Katie A.

  • Tournament Result - Y5/6 Girls 7-a-side Netball

    Thu 06 Jun 2019

Today saw the long-awaited return of a primary school 7-a-side Netball tournament…

After School Sport Nottingham ceased running this event in 2017, and last year’s Nottinghamshire equivalent was postponed, our girls finally got to play this format of Netball.

Given it was a county-wide event, which included single-sex, private schools, we knew the opposition would be very tough!

Whitemoor’s players battled extremely hard and scored some great team goals. However, the extra practice many of our opponents received clearly showed, with very few wins recorded over the course of the evening.

As Mrs Hall and Miss Proud said, it was a great experience for the girls to play this sport against such quality opposition – a real learning curve!

Our 'Girls Only' Netball team consisted of: Inez W, Katie A, Megan H, Mariah-Lace A, Vina R, Farrah M and Christine S.

  • Tournament Result - Y3/4 Mini-Tennis Red Finals

    Wed 05 Jun 2019

This afternoon, our A Team returned to Nottingham Tennis Centre to complete in the grand finals of this year’s event.

Obviously, the competition they faced was a lot tougher than in the heats, so maximum concentration and effort would be required from the very start.

Our tennis superstars certainly rose to this challenge, playing some great shots in their games against pupils from across Nottingham City.

Unfortunately, unlike in 2018, they did not record enough wins to finish in a medal position. We were still incredibly proud of their achievements though - getting to a final in itself is worthy of praise!

Our team for the finals of the Y3/4 Tennis Tournament was: Jahmar C, Lucas S, Fizzah A and Aamina S.
