  • Tournament Result – Thursday 30th Match – Y5/6 Table Tennis

    Thu 30 Mar 2017

The Table Tennis tournament has always been a highly enjoyable date on the sporting calendar, and yesterday's event more than lived up to expectations!

This time around skill levels of the other schools involved were higher than ever, but so were spirits of the Whitemoor players.

All the boys and girls who took part played amazingly well – with every member of our two teams winning lots of games. It was fairly clear from the start that two other schools were going to take the gold and silver spots, so the battle for bronze was on!

As it turns out, the best (and most nail biting) game of the afternoon were when our A Team played our B Team. The matches were very close and were played with smiles on faces throughout.

Well done to our A Team who came out on top, so finished in 3rd place and took home the bronze medals. Also, well done to our B Team who finished only a few points behind and therefore ended up in 4th position.

Congratulations to Middleton and Milford for claiming the gold and silver medals and a special mention for the pupils who represented Whitemoor in a sporting event for the first time.

    Our Y5/6 Table Tennis players were: Mason W, Troy B, Amirah A, Lauren F (A Team) and Elijah H, Josh I, Natasha C, Urooj  F (B Team).

  • Tournament Result – Wednesday 29th March – Y5/6 Basketball C.V.L. Finals

    Wed 29 Mar 2017

Our Y5/6 Basketball team once again made it to the Central Venue League Finals, this time following an impressive first place finish in their set of qualifying rounds. The team had big boots to fill after last year's successes, however they didn't disappoint…

Whitemoor came up against some seriously tough competition in their first couple of matches, in the form of Sycamore and Glade Hill. The whole team banded together and showed resilience and amazing teamwork. Their performances could not be faulted; unfortunately they lost these two matches by a single point and a basket respectively.

In spite of these results, our players heads didn't drop. Instead they pushed on to win the remaining matches convincingly (against Robin Hood and St Teresa's). Thanks to these victories, we came away with the bronze medals. It was truly a fantastic performance by all, and the staff involved were very proud of the children's efforts.

Especially well done to Amarion, who stepped in at the last minute to cover an injured player, and went on to score a number of important baskets.

Our Basketball Team for 'Finals Night' were: Megan M, Millie G, Shania B, Amirah A, Mason N, Castel B, Romario L, Tino C, Amarion A and Harvinder D.

  • Competition Result – Monday 27th March – Y5/6 Climbing

    Mon 27 Mar 2017

Yesterday evening, eleven lucky Year 6 pupils got the opportunity to take part in Hollygirt's inter-school climbing competition, held here in Basford. This annual event is now in its third year, with Whitemoor children being invited for the second time in a row.

Like last year, the other teams present were a mix of private schools (Hollygirt and Nottingham High) and state schools (Southwark and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour). As you can imagine, this mix of children meant there were a number for whom climbing was a weekly activity, and therefore the competition was of a very high standard.

During the event, points were awarded based on how far each child had traversed along a low wall, added to points from how high they climbed up three walls of varying difficulty (some of which were very high!).

Whilst Whitemoor did not get into the top places, it's fair to say that every member of the team displayed maximum effort and achieved some great scores along the way.

Our Y6 Climbing teams (three in all) were made up of: Troy B, Mason N, Alfie G, Owen S, Jordan C, Teegan A, Thomas W, Olivia G, Kelsey W, Aisha A and Laila H.

  • Tournament Result – Monday 27th March – Y5 This Girl Can Festival

    Mon 27 Mar 2017

On Monday morning, a group of excited Year 5 pupils were whisked off to Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre, to take part in the next of the 'This Girl Can' festivals.

The main aim of today's event was to encourage girls to get active, and to be proud doing so. The seven pupils representing Whitemoor had opportunity to play a range of different sports over the morning: Curling, Athletics, Dodgeball and Matball.

Well done to the girls involved, who displayed an excellent sporting attitude at all times. A real credit to our school!

Our Y5 'This Girl Can' Team consisted of: Imaan S, Zahrah S, Zoha H, Rachana G, Maimoona Z, Shania E, Ansu B.

  • Tournament Result – Thursday 23rd March – Y2 Infant Agility Festival

    Thu 23 Mar 2017

Yesterday morning, some of our youngest sports stars traveled to Nottingham Trent University to represent our school in a competition for the very first time.

In all, Whitemoor took three teams to the Infant Agility Festival, with this year's event based around jungle animals. It was clear from the outset that the thirty pupils in attendance were very excited about taking part and loved dressing up as their team animal.

Over the course of the morning, they got to play lots of different games as well competing in relay races against other schools. We hope that everyone who took part got a taster of how fun school sports can be.

A big well done must go to this group of children for representing Whitemoor so magnificently throughout the day.

    The Y2 Infant Agility teams were: Keeley O’C, Freya Mae C, Austin O, Danraj N, James C, Davantae R, Jacob S, Jahmar C, Jayden A, Kade A (The Snakes) and Fizza A, Amina S, Natai B, Brannon B, Jagraj L, Kiyan A, Harry G, Kurtis T, Lucas H, Raihan H (The Hippos) and Lorita O, Sophie A, Makeda M, Daniel S, Farhan Z, Jai B, Logan H, Lucas S, David K, Tiargo P (The Kangaroos).
