  • Tournament Result – Monday 27th February – Y5 Mega Festival

    Mon 27 Feb 2017

The 'Mega Festivals' are a new inclusion to this year's competition calendar – an addition we very much welcome at Whitemoor Academy.

The focus of the festivals is centered around the key objectives of: widening participation and providing enjoyable sporting experiences, as well providing opportunity to take part in a breadth of activities.

The pupils who attended had a wonderful time and loved playing sports as part of a team; showing off their skills in a competitive yet fun environment. Well done to all involved.

Our Y5 Mega Festival team were: Connor L, Jessica R, Muhammad S, Lacin K, Jacob S and Sophie H.

  • Tournament Result – Wednesday 22nd February – Y5/6 Basketball C.V.L. Heats

    Wed 22 Feb 2017

On Wednesday 22nd February, the annual Basketball Central Venue League kicked off at Ellis Guilford. As part of the first round of heats, Whitemoor played three games against schools from across the City.

As is sometimes the way, we started slowly and lost our first match to St Teresa's by a single point (12-13). Pleasingly, performance levels improved and we won our next match (against Scotholme) 16-2. This result was bettered in our final match – a 16-8 victory against an impressive Brocklewood side.

Whitemoor will take to the courts again on Wednesday 1st March, to play their second set of CVL games – hoping to come out on top and qualify for the finals!

This Y5/6 Basketball team on the night were: Megan M, Mille G, Amirah A, Ciara H, Shania B, Mason N, Tino C, Harvinder D, Romario L and Castel B.

  • Tournament Result – Wednesday 22nd February – Y5/6 Badminton

    Wed 22 Feb 2017

On a busy afternoon for sports at Whitemoor, a selection of our Y5/6 children traveled to Harvey Hadden to take part in the annual Badminton tournament.

Badminton is a very tough sport to master and, added to this, for a number of our team this was their first ever competitive sports event. Thankfully, these children have been practising regularly as part of after-school sessions with Miss Sharp, so played with high levels of confidence and skill.

After the grueling round robin matches had finished, all the wins and draws were added together to work out which position schools had finished in. Unfortunately, Whitemoor narrowly missed out on a medal, failing to claim third place as a result of a lower points score.

However, all the adults who took the children to this competition were extremely proud of their performances. Better luck next time Whitemoor!

    The Y5/6 Badminton team were: Amirah A, Natasha C, Urooj F, Iman H, Owen S, Harvinder D, Jai W and Alfie G.

  • Tournament Result – Tuesday 7th February – Y5/6 Dodgeball Championships Finals

    Tue 07 Feb 2017

Following successful navigation of the Dodgeball Heats (back in January), we were invited over to Harvey Hadden to compete in the grand finals.

In all, twelve teams qualified from the heats – and the standard of play was the best there has ever been, with any one of the twelve teams on show capable of taking the title.

Despite the above, and the fact Whitemoor had made three changes to the team, our players gelled from the very start of the tournament. After a series of close group and knockout games, the final was a play-off between Ambleside and ourselves…

In a match that showcased great power, skill and team work; Ambleside were victorious, taking home the gold medal. Well done to our players for achieving silver – our second Dogdeball medal in two years.

    Whitemoor's Y5/6 Dodgeball team consisted of: Megan M, Amirah A, Romario L, Mason N, Owen S, Daniel P, Castel B and Troy B.
