  • Tournament Result – Thursday 26th May – Y5/6 Mini-Tennis

    Thu 26 May 2016

On Thursday 26th, our Yr 5/6 Tennis team took part in the Mini Orange tournament, held at the Tennis Centre in Beeston.

The team competed in around 13 matches and performed fantastically well. We recorded some victories, as well as some losses, but above all had lots of fun. At the end of all our games, we finished in an impressive 7th place.

Not only did the children show superb ability when playing tough opposition from across Nottingham City, but they also demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout their games, which made us all incredibly proud.

Well done to the eldest of our two Tennis teams, who consisted of: Kamiya L, Oskar D, Thomas S and Gloria L.

  • Competition Result – Wednesday 25th May – Y3/4 Gymnastics

    Wed 25 May 2016

Yesterday evening, an outstanding performance by our Y3/4 Gymnasts led to another medal for Whitemoor in a Gymnastics competitions (with our Y1/2s having earned silver back in December).

The hard work and dedication shown by all pupils who took part was wonderful to see. By attending the after school club each week, and by putting themselves forward to compete in this event, the children learnt so much and developed so many skills. Not only this, but one of our two teams finished in the gold medal position!!!

A big thanks to all the parents and carers who came to support us on the night as well. We were all very proud of what the children achieved.

    The Y3/4 Gymnastics team was made up of: J'Adore P, Nevaya P, Sahnairi P, Dominic A, Italee P, Tayah P, Jaylah C, Farrah M and Zakiah R.

  • Competition Result – Tuesday 24th May – Y5 Arrows Archery

    Tue 24 May 2016

Yesterday, a number of Year 5 pupils traveled up to Ellis Guilford to represent Whitemoor in our first ever Archery competition.

Both Year 5 classes have been lucky enough to receive specialist Archery coaching during PE this term and, based on their efforts in these sessions, eighteen children were selected to take part in the inter-school finale.

We were delighted that this event gave us another chance to include A, B and C teams – especially given the fact that many of the children we picked had never been involved in a competition before.

All our three teams put in maximum effort, and their hard work paid off when we won both the gold and bronze medals!

    Our Archery team consisted of: Alfie G, Natasha C, Jai W, Niamh P, Mason W, Tino C, Olivia G, Urooj F, Shakiel T, Troy B, Awais I, Sharnaiya M, Amirah A, Lauren F, Joshua I, Halima A, Sophie B and Millie G.

  • Tournament Result – Thursday 19th May – Y5/6 High Five Netball COUNTY FINALS

    Thu 19 May 2016

After winning the City Finals at the end of last term, our 'High 5' Netball team returned to Emmanuel Secondary School for the County Finals.

This time around, the standard was extremely high and every game we played very tough. Unfortunately, we lost our first game, but then went on to win all other remaining games. We only missed out on qualification for the Regional Finals due to goal difference of 1!

Every single member of the team played well and represented Whitemoor magnificently. The teachers, parents and carers in attendance were so proud of this group of children - with Miss Proud and Mrs Hall reflecting on their amazing achievements this year as reason to look past any disappointment. After all, we are the first school in the city to win gold at both the Netball Central Venue League and Tournament.

A special thanks must also go to those two teachers mentioned above, who have dedicated so much time after school in making this team what it is!

Our Y5/6 County Finalists were: Savita A, Ajay S, Glenn S (captain), Solomon S, Grace A, Kamiya L and Jamie H.

  • Tournament Result – Thursday 19th May – Y3/4 Mini-Tennis Red

    Thu 19 May 2016

Last Thursday, our Yr 3/4 tennis team competed in the Mini Red tournament at the Nottingham Tennis Centre.

The 12 children involved in this event were split into 3 teams (A, B and C), with 2 boys and 2 girls making up each team. This is the first time we've been able to take so many teams to a tournament, and is reflection of how readily all children engage with sports nowadays.

The afternoon itself was a fun filled affair, with some top quality matches against schools such as Brocklewood, Fernwood and Ambleside. The three Whitemoor teams played fantastically well and, as a result of some particularly impressive performances, our A squad finished in 4th place (out of 34 teams!).

Well done to all the children involved, who were: Kamara J, Areeba Z, Lacin K, Brian D, Mason T, Aaliyah B, J’Adore P, Carnell T, Jessica S, Alessandro C, Nayara R and Hugo K.

  • Competition Result – Monday 16th May – Y4/5 Novice Swimming Gala

    Mon 16 May 2016

On Monday 16th, Whitemoor's Swimming team arrived at Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre – ready to compete in the Novice Gala.

There was a mixture of nerves and excitement as the children prepared to race. For many of our younger swimmers, this was their first experience of a inter-school sports competition. Once the event got going, it was clear to see that any nervousness had disappeared and the whole team thoroughly enjoyed the morning's events.

There were some fantastic races, including: push the ball walking relay, blowing an egg race, domino castle relay; as well as some individual races such as back stroke, front crawl and breaststroke (in which Whitemoor did incredibly well). Everyone returned to school tired but happy as they scored enough points to finish in 2nd place and therefore earn silver medals!

The adults who attended the event were extremely proud of ALL our competitors and, once again, was fantastic to see the impact earning a medal had in regards to raising both their confidence and self-esteem.

Well done to our fantastic Swimming team, who were made up of: Amelia B, Charlie D, Elijah H, Jonelle T, Alexis T, Sophie H, Jayden R, Alfie G, Mason W, Twuan M, Shamai P and Nevaya P.

  • Football Result – Thursday 5th May – Boys Under 11 7-a-side Ron Matthews Trophy

    Thu 05 May 2016

As a result of finishing runners up in the Karnival Tournament (back in November), we were invited to take part in the annual Nottingham Forest Schools' Night. This meant we got to play at the home of one of England's most famous football teams – the City Ground.

The first game of the night was our semi-final against the Karnival West League winners, giving us chance to reach the finals of the Ron Matthews Trophy for the first time since 2013 (if we were to win).

This 10 minute match was a fairly one sided affair, with us hitting the post twice and missing an open goal. Unfortunately, this meant the game ended:

Whitemoor Academy 0 – 0 Rosslyn Park (so went to penalties)

In the first of our spot kicks, Lynden missed but thankfully so did the opposition. Luke, Oskar, Solomon, Mason, Declan and their Rosslyn counter parts all converted the following 10 penalties. Richard was next and buried his kick, then up stepped Rosslyn's goalkeeper… However, Vlad made a terrific save – meaning we qualified for the finals!

In this all important match, our players fought like warriors – doing the themselves and the school proud. The hugely deserved result was as follows:

    Whitemoor Academy 2 – 1 Sycamore Primary

    Mason N

  • Tournament Result – Wednesday 4th May – Y5/6 High Five Netball Finals

    Wed 04 May 2016

Yesterday (Wednesday 4th) proved to be another successful tournament for the well-oiled machine that is our Whitemoor Netball team. They traveled over to Emmanuel Secondary School again, this time to compete in the 'High 5' City Finals – and were crowned the Champions!

This hugely impressive gold medal win came about following a tight final against Fernwood – which ended up going to extra time and thus golden goal knock out…

Thankfully, a calm and collected shot by Savita secured the win for Whitemoor. A massive well done to all the children involved, especially as many of this team also won gold in the Central Venue League tournament back in October!

    The Y5/6 High 5 team were: Savita A (captain), Ajay S, Glenn S, Solomon S, Grace A, Kamiya L and Jamie H.
