  • Tournament Result – Monday 29th January – KS2 Boccia Championships Heats

    Mon 29 Jan 2018

Earlier today, Whitemoor took part in the annual Key Stage 2 Boccia tournament - which it turns out was the first time we'd ever entered this event!

Boccia is an established Paralympic Sport, however the children who competed in today's event didn't need to have a physical disability in order to selected. Instead the focus of our team selection was centred around those who do not usually get chance to take part in mainstream competitions.

Due to the popularity of Boccia among primary schools in the City, there were two separate heats organised, with only the top 8 schools going through to the grand finals.

Both of teams played superbly well and won the majority of their games. In fact, one of Whitemoor's teams played so well that they qualified for the finals (in a few weeks time)!

Our two Boccia Championship teams consisted of: Marques S, Sarah H, Keltoum K, Lewis N, Ali C, Mariam R, Alessandro C, Anas I, Aimee K and Dominic A.

  • Tournament Result – Thursday 25th January – Y4/5 Dodgeball

    Thu 25 Jan 2018

On Thursday afternoon, a number of children from our Year 5 classes traveled to Harvey Hadden to compete in the Y4/5 Dodgeball tournament.

In the past, this event has been targeted at Y5/6 children. However, the change in year group focus brought about a renewed engagement with this sport - and from a younger age!

Over the course of the afternoon, Whitemoor displayed some real battling qualities and won many games of Dodgeball as a result of this. Unfortunately, when it came to our very last game (the final) our players looked low on energy and succumbed to a disappointing defeat.

However, all of the team should be proud of finishing in 2nd place, especially given the high volume of teams who competed in today's tournament.

    Our silver medal winning Y4/5 Dodgeball team consisted of: Mustafa K, Natijah L, Kyan N, Christine S, Travae R, Inez W, Shalom-Chris O, Mariah-Lace A and Italee P.

  • Tournament Result – Monday 22nd January – Y5 This Girl Can Festival

    Mon 22 Jan 2018

Yesterday's 'This Girl Can' Festival, held at Harvey Hadden, provided opportunity for some of our Year 5 girls to take part in exciting sporting activities against other schools.

The emphasis of this event was centred on fun and enjoyment, as well as providing a greater number of pupils with experience of inter-school competition.

All the girls selected had a great time and loved representing Whitemoor in a range of different sports, including things such as dodgeball and urban hockey.

Although medals aren't awarded at these festivals, all those who took part still showed great determination, teamwork and desire. Well done girls!

The Y5 'This Girl Can' team consisted of: Alyssia B, Megan H, Elizabeth L, May S, Zaida M, Guveer L and Vina R.

  • Tournament Result – Thursday 18th January – Y5/6 Handball

    Thu 18 Jan 2018

Yesterday, Whitemoor traveled over to Harvey Hadden to take part in the Y5/6 Handball Tournament – hoping to go one better than last year and achieve the gold medal.

With the popularity of primary handball rising year on year, Mr Jackson and his team were well aware that the challenge from other schools was going to be tough!

The high number of schools participating in today's tournament meant it was split into two leagues. Whitemoor made it through their league unbeaten and so qualified for the all important second round…

Here Whitemoor came up against Southwalk, who were a formidable team. The match offered up a demonstration of amazing skill, but thankfully our players pushed hard at the end to take the win.

This victory provided the platform for Whitemoor to achieve an incredible gold medal! Well done to the whole team for working so incredibly hard.

Especially well done to our Players of the Tournament, Mason  and Nevaya, who showed great attitude and leadership throughout.

    Our Y5/6 Handball team were: Nevaya P, Mariah-Lace A, Amelia B, Shruti A, Kamara J, Sahnairi P, Mason T, Brian D, Aiden L, Elhadi M, Jahkyi C and Natijah L.

  • Competition result – Wednesday 10th January – Y5/6 Cross Country Championships

    Wed 10 Jan 2018

Wollaton Park was host for the annual Y5/6 Cross Country Championships, which took place this afternoon. As per usual, lots and lots of schools were involved (including state and private).

The event was split into individual boys and girls races, with a team score calculated at the end. Although Whitemoor did not manage to gain enough points to make it into the medal positions, our pupils raced incredibly well in what is one of the hardest competitions of the year.

A special mention goes to Sahnairi, who ran incredibly well and placed in the top 12 (out of hundreds of female runners). This means she will be going through to the County Finals, held later on this month. We wish her the best of luck!

Our Y5/6 Cross Country team was made up of: Sahnairi P, Nevaya P, Kamara J, Brian D, Mason T, Elhadi M, Jahkyi C and Travae R.
