  • Tournament Result – Thursday 14th December – Y5/6 Basketball Finals

    Thu 14 Dec 2017

Earlier today, our Y5/6 Basketball team returned to the courts at Nottingham Trent University; competing in what was Whitemoor's fourth consecutive City Finals.

This time around, the opposition were of a much better standard compared with the teams in our heats…

After an impressive 10-1 victory against Southglade, we went on to lose to South Wilford by a single point (9-10), then draw with Windmill 11-11. Following losses to our local rivals Old Basford and Southwark, we beat William Booth 6-2 - but ended the tournament with another defeat (against Claremont).

As the medal positions were read out, Whitemoor discovered that they hadn't finished in the top three. However, to get this far was still a great achievement.

Now we turn our attentions to the Central Venue League, held at Ellis Guilford in Mach.

    The Y5/6 Basketball team for the finals were: Aiden L, Mason T, Jahkyi C, Brian D, Jayden R, Elhadi M, Sahnairi P, Mariah-Lace A, Kamara J and Amelia B.

  • Tournament Result – Thursday 7th December – Y3/4 Handball

    Thu 07 Dec 2017

Over the past few years, Handball has grown and grown in popularity as a primary school sport. This was evidenced by the sheer volume of teams that entered today's Y3/4 tournament, with a record 21 teams (and over 250 children) taking part.

In the first part of the afternoon at Harvey Hadden, Whitemoor brushed aside any challengers found in their group, and so comprehensively qualified for the knock-out round.

As the afternoon progressed, our team made it all the way to the finals, where they faced a well drilled Southwark team. Despite being the better team for most of the match, we lost by a single goal.

However, our players should be immensely proud as they played fantastically well and still came away with a silver medal!

The Y3/4 Handball team was made up of: Glennisha B, Shay A, Kuleni S, Katie A, Zenai C, Harley J, Tyrai W, Abdullah T, Keenan D, Sam W and Rio N.

Meaning we finished the tournament with a total of 7 points, which unfortunately left us in 4th place. Despite this the boys should be very proud of their efforts. After all, a win against Melbury (in their fourth game) would have meant we won the whole thing!
