  • Tournament Result – Thursday 29th June – Y4/5 Quad Athletics Finals

    Thu 29 Jun 2017

Following a second place finish in the qualifying round of the Quad Athletics event, Whitemoor were invited back to the finals - once again held on the tracks of Harvey Hadden Stadium.

Two changes were made to the team, with Mason and Mariah-Lace replacing Shalom-Chris and Jonelle. These additions (along with the other eight members of the team) put in some impressive performances and recorded some great scores, in what was a fiercely competitive afternoon of athletics.

Come the end of the day, each child's scores (from the four different events) were added together to reveal the medal winning schools…

We were delighted to discover Whitemoor had achieved enough points to finish in third place. Well done to our athletes for earning the bronze medal. Also, well done to Old Basford and Southwark for claiming the silver and gold medals respectively.

    Today's Y4/5 Quad team consisted of: Sahnairi P, Nevaya P, Kamara J, Sophie H, Mariah-Lace A, Mason T, Ramadan R, Brian D, Carnell T and Elhadi M.

  • Competition Result – Wednesday 28th June – Y6 Go For Gold Fun Run

    Wed 28 Jun 2017

Earlier on today, Whitemoor took part in one of School Sport Nottingham's new events (for 2017): the Go for Gold Fun Run.

This event consisted of hundreds of pupils running around the lake at Colwick Country Park. However, it got a whole lot more exciting that this...

Anyone who managed to make it around the course once earned a bronze wristband, twice earned them a silver wristband and, if they did this three times, earned a gold band.

It was fabulous to see that all of our Y6 cohort completed a minimum of 3 laps around the lake, with many doing twice this much! What's more, despite the rain and wind, Team Whitemoor did so with huge smiles on their faces throughout.

Our Y6 Go For Gold Fun Run team was made up of: Class 13, Class 14, teachers, teaching assistants and Notts County staff.

  • Tournament Result – Thursday 22nd June – Y6 This Girl Can Festival

    Thu 22 Jun 2017

On Thursday morning, eight girls from Y6 visited Harvey Hadden, to take part in the last 'This Girl Can' festival of the year.

The Whitemoor team were a perfect example of the campaign's target audience: girls who wanted to get active and take part in sport - not caring how they look! They had great fun competing in four different sports, as well as getting to play against a variety of girls from other primary schools.

The highlights of the morning were Kurling and American Football! Playing the latter sport was a first for our girls, who were nervous at the beginning of the session but showed magnificent throwing and catching skills by the end of it.

Well done to all our Y6 girls for showing great teamwork, and representing Whitemoor so well.

Our Y6 'This Girl Can' team were: Kelsey W, Noor T, Aliyah G, Urooj F, Iman H, Aaliyah P, Lauren F and Sophie B.

  • Tournament Result – Wednesday 21st June – Y5/6 Girls 7-a-side Netball

    Wed 21 Jun 2017

For the third year running, Whitemoor took part in the 'Girls Only' 7-a-side Netball tournament, held in the impressive setting of the High School grounds.

Expectations were high following another period of success for Whitemoor in both 'High 5' events. However, this tournament is always trickier as it pits us against single sex, private schools; along with the fact it requires our players to learn a completely new set of tactics and rules.

As has been the case in the previous two versions of this tournament, the Whitemoor players battled extremely hard and achieved some great wins. However, the Girls' High School dominated again, winning both the gold and silver medals – with Southwark finishing in bronze medal position.

Our girls should be proud of their fourth place finish however; Mrs Hall and Miss Proud certainly were!

The Y5/6 Girls Netball squad consisted of: Aqsa A, Kamara J, Shania B, Megan M, Ciara H, Natasha C, Nevaya P and Sahnairi P.

  • Tournament Result – Monday 19th June – Y5 Kwick Cricket

    Mon 19 Jun 2017

Yesterday, on a gloriously sunny afternoon, we traveled over to the Cricket Pavilion in West Bridgford, to compete in the Y5 Cricket Tournament.

Our team played against some tough and well drilled opposition – with our first two games finishing in loses to Scotholme and Nottingham Academy. Thankfully, our final result was a convincing win against Southwark.

By the end of the group stages, it looked likely that Whitemoor wouldn't advance to the playoffs…. However, following our children's insistence that we stop till the very end of the tournament, it was announced four schools had left and so qualified for the 3rd/4th match.

Here we played (once again!) against our fellow SHINE school, Scotholme primary. Our players did not let any earlier losses play on their minds as they came away with the win and therefore the bronze medal. Well done boys!

The Y5 Kwick Cricket team was made up of: Jahkai C, Carnell T, Aiden L, Mason T, Muhammad S, Ramadan R, Biraj A and Brian D.

  • Tournament Result – Wednesday 14th June – Y4/5 Quad Athletics Heats

    Wed 14 Jun 2017

On Wednesday afternoon, 10 pupils from Whitemoor traveled over to Harvey Hadden Stadium to compete in the annual Y4/5 Quad Athletics tournament.

All the athletes (five boys and five girls from each school) competed in a 50m race, 400m race, standing long jump and howler vortex throw. The children's scores from these events were added together, with the only the three highest point scoring schools making it out of the heats.

The Whitemoor athletes were fantastic throughout – displaying a truly impressive array of skills. Amazingly, we scored enough points to finish in 2nd place, and therefore made it through to the finals in a couple of weeks time.

In particular, a huge congratulations to Sahnairi whose incredible personal score was the third highest score of the day!

The Y4/5 Quad Athletics Team were made up of: Sahnairi P, Neveya P, Sophie H, Kamara J, Jonelle T, Shalom-Chris O, Ramadan R, Brian D, Carnell T and Elhadi M.

  • Whitemoor Achieve School Games Gold Again!

Tue 06 Jun 2017 Mr Bevington

BREAKING NEWS! For the third time in the history of the School Games Mark, Whitemoor have achieved Gold status.

With over 150 young people competing in inter-school competitions (and many more in intra-school events), we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of School Sport, including those young leaders who made these competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded again.

Whitemoor's PE and Sport team would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at school who has played a part in gaining this award.

Looking to the future, the target is to achieve Gold School Games Mark for five consecutive years, which will then allow us to apply for the (very rare) Platinum Mark.
