  • Tournament Result – Monday 30th January – Y3/4 Sportshall Athletics Heats

    Mon 30 Jan 2017

Yesterday morning, we traveled a short distance up to Ellis Guilford to compete in the first round of the Y3/4 Sportshall Athletics event. If the children were to be successful they would then reach the semi-finals and hopefully then the finals.

Over the course of the morning, the children took part in running, jumping and throwing events against a number of other schools from across the City. Some impressive scores were recorded in individual events, however dropping the baton in both relay events ended up costing us dearly!

When the points were totaled, we knew only four out of the eight schools present would qualify, but unfortunately Whitemoor were not one of them. Although the children did not progress to the semi-finals, they performed amazingly well and for several athletes, this was their first time representing Whitemoor in any competition.

    Our Y3/4 Sports Hall Athletics team were: Italee P, Farrah M, Christine S, Tayah P, Ruby-Lea M, Megan H, Mariah-Lace A, Jaylah C, Inez W, Guveer L, Alyssia B, Bilal A, Chrisopher V, Peter S, Hugo K, Kyan N, Natijah L, Rajan S, Shalom-Chris O, Travae R and Dijourn M.

  • Tournament Result – Tuesday 24th January – Y5/6 Dodgeball Championships Heats

    Tue 24 Jan 2017

Earlier this afternoon, eight (very brave) children ventured over to Southglade Leisure Centre, to compete in the heats of Y5/6 Dodgeball tournament.

Like last year, only the top six teams would qualify for the finals, so lots of skill and energy was required!

Thankfully, Whitemoor responding fantastically to the challenge – winning every game (apart from a draw against Southwark and a narrow loss to Heathfield A).

These results, and the impressive score lines that went with them, meant we easily qualified for the finals, held at Harvey Hadden on Tuesday 7th February.

    Today's Y5/6 Dodgeball team were: Millie G, Roche M, Romario L, Mason N, Owen S, Daniel P, Castel B and Alfie G.

  • Competition Result – Monday 23rd January – Y5/6 Great Big Dance Off

    Mon 23 Jan 2017

On Monday 23rd, our Dance Troupe got the opportunity to take part in the Regional Finals of the 'Great Big Dance Off'.

This event was held in the impressive setting of the The Albert Hall, and saw us compete against twenty-one other schools from across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire.

All the girls and boys involved had been training hard every on Thursdays after school, and overcame any nerves when it was their time to go on stage – providing a magnificent performance. In the end we finished with 133 points, which ranked us 7th out of all the schools.

What was even more impressive was that we ranked first out of all schools representing Nottingham City. Well done to all our dancers – an awesome effort!

    Our Dance Troupe was made of: Teegan A, Niamh P, Peyten C, Millie G, Amirah A, Nevaya P, Sahnairi P, Aisha A, J'adore P and Ja'Nai S.

  • Tournament Result – Thursday 19th January – Y5/6 Handball

    Thu 19 Jan 2017

On Thursday afternoon, our Y5/6 Handball team traveled to Harvey Hadden to take part in our first ever tournament at this age grouping.

With the Y3/4 Handball team having won the last two City Schools' events, there was a certain level of expectation placed on our older pupil's shoulders…This was added to fact that this sport is becoming more and more popular in local primary schools - and so the competition is becoming tougher and tougher!

The effort the team had been putting into training seemed to work as they made it all the way to the finals, following a series of impressive wins in the group stage.

In the final we met Fernwood, who were very strong and played a similar style to Whitemoor. Both schools traded goals for most of the match, but unfortunately Fernwood kept their one goal lead long enough to win the gold medal.

Well done to our players for showing great teamwork and determination. We are all very proud of your performance and the fact you came away with a silver medal.

    Our Y5/6 Handball team consisted of: Natasha C, Megan M, Millie G, Ciara H, Shania B, Daniel P, Castel B, Alfie G, Mason N and Harvinder D.

  • Competition Result – Wednesday 11th January – Y5/6 Cross Country Championships

    Wed 11 Jan 2017

Yesterday afternoon, we took a small selection of pupils over to Wollaton Park, to compete in the Year 5/6 Cross Country Championships. This event differs from the cross country event back in October - in that racers compete as individuals not as a team.

The conditions on the day were not ideal, with low temperatures and high winds making it a difficult course for all pupils taking part. However, all six of Whitemoor's pupils ran extremely well and showed grit and determination to cross the finishing line.

Unfortunately, we did not make it into the top 12 runners, but the staff present were very proud of these children's efforts. A big well done to all involved.

The Y5/6 Cross Country team on the day was: Megan M, Kamara J, Natasha C, Mason N, Brian D and Harvinder D.
