Whitemoor achieve School Games Platinum!
On the very last day of this academic year, we received some truly incredible news...
We are delighted to announce that we, Whitemoor Academy, have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award!!!
Schools are only to apply for the Platinum level after reaching the Gold standard for five consecutive years. Suffice to say, it is a very long and challenging journey to try and achieve such an award; not only this, but no other school in Nottingham City had yet to do so.
The School Games Mark scheme is designed to reward schools for their differing commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
With a total of 227 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of the application process, we were asked to complete a detailed case study to evidence our ongoing work, especially in regard to how we have 'embedded positive experiences of competition into our offer and how this has made a difference to our uptake.' Following submission of this case study, we were pleased that the effort of everyone at our school had been rewarded.
With all this in mind, Whitemoor's PE and Sport team would like to say a huge thank you to the whole school community for helping us gain this extremely prestigious award.
We look forward to applying once again in 2025!
