Competition Result – Tuesday 29th November – Y5/6 Dance Championships
Tue 29 Nov 2016Yesterday evening, ten members of our Y5/6 Dance Troupe traveled up to Ellis Guilford to compete in the annual 'Dance Championships.' This year there were more schools involved in the event than ever before – fourteen in total.
When it was their turn, Whitemoor's dancers performed an amazing routine to the song 'Where have you been?' by Rihanna. The determination and flair displayed by our team paid off as the judges awarded Whitemoor a high points total…
In fact, our Dance Troupe scored enough points to finish in third position and so achieve the bronze medal.
A huge well done to all the children involved for what was a truly fantastic effort!
The Y5/6 Dance Troupe consisted of: Teegan A, Niamh P, Peyten C, Millie G, Amirah A, Nevaya P, Sahnairi P, Aisha A, J’adore P and Ja’Nai S.

Tournament Result – Monday 28th November – Y4 This Girl Can Festival
Mon 28 Nov 2016Yesterday, seven lucky pupils were chosen to take part in the 'This Girl Can' festival, held at Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre.
Following on from the success of last year's Year 6 event, there has been a push to involve girls from an even younger age. In this case it was those currently in Year 4.
The girls had opportunity to play three different sports over the course of the morning, with inclusiveness and fun very much the key aims. Not only did the girls have a great time experiencing these sports – they also represented Whitemoor extremely well, thanks to their good manners and sportsmanship.
We look forward to seeing these girls, and many more, continue to get involved with sports during their time at Whitemoor.
The Y4 'This Girl Can' team were: Keyanne H, Magdalena G, Ruby-Lea M, Keltoum K, Aimee K, Sarah H and Michaela C.

Tournament Result – Monday 21st November – KS2 Multi Sports
Mon 21 Nov 2016Yesterday afternoon, some lucky Year 6 children got the chance to compete in a multi sports competition, held at Ellis Guilford Secondary School.
Due to the fact we could walk to the host venue, we took a team of ten children with us – many of whom had never represented Whitemoor in a sports event before. It was fair to say there was a certain amount of nervousness as we stepped foot in Ellis' sports hall.
These nerves soon turned to excitement though – with the children getting to take part in a range of events, such as relay races, Dodgeball and Kurling (in a 20 minute tournament format). The emphasis of all these events was on enjoyment and inclusiveness, so was great to see our team cheering each other on throughout the afternoon.
Our Y6 Multi Sports team was made up of: Faizan M, Troy B, Omaima H, Lauren F, Sophie B, Daniel T, Hooria M, Dominic C, Simon W and Maria R.

Tournament Result – Thursday 17th November – Y5/6 Basketball Heats
Thu 17 Nov 2016On Thursday 17th, we made our way to Harvey Hadden for one of the two Mini Basketball qualifying rounds. After successes in both Basketball events last year, the team was excited to put their training into practise and hopefully win some games!
After a slow start for Whitemoor, and a narrow win in the first game, the team powered through and managed to record some much more impressive victories. In fact we didn't lose a single game by the time the afternoon had finished.
As a result of our undefeated run, we finished first, and will now be taking part in the City Finals on Thursday 1st December. What a great set of performances against some tough opposition. Well done to all eleven children who took part in the heats.
The Y5/6 Basketball squad was made up of: Harvinder D, Daniel P, Romario L, Mason N, Castel B, Brian D, Megan M, Shania B, Amirah A, Ciara H and Millie G.
