At Whitemoor, we offer a maths curriculum that supports progress for all, challenges pupils to develop reasoning and supports long-lasting learning. The maths curriculum encompasses 'The Whitemoor Way' as it encourages pupils to:
Work Hard: each lesson provides a level of challenge that will ensure all pupils are working hard within the lesson.
Independent Thinking: pupils will be encouraged to develop their own chain of reasoning, aiming for efficiency and working methodically.
Everybody Matters: every pupil is supported in developing their understanding, progressing in their capability and improving their reasoning skills.
Outstanding Opportunities: each lesson provides the outstanding opportunity of building on previous knowledge, whilst also developing oracy and confidence through daily 'maths talk'.
Resilience: all lessons are designed to challenge each pupil individually, meaning that every child will be supported in building resilience as they push past their current limits to develop into well-rounded mathematicians.

Long Term Overviews (Year 1 to Year 6)
White Rose Curriculum:
We follow the White Rose Scheme across the school.

Mastering Number:
We strongly believe that every child should feel that they are capable of achieving in maths. Knowledge and fluency of number facts plays a huge role in building confidence in maths. With this in mind, we deliver Mastering Number - a 15 minute daily session where pupils learn, practise and consolidate the key number facts for their year group.
These sessions take place from Reception to Year 5. Below, you can find the overviews for each year group.
TTRockstars:
At Whitemoor, we use TTRockstars to improve our times tables. All Key Stage 2children have a login, and we expect them to practise their times tables regularly at home, using the website.
What are the aims of TTRockstars?
The programme has one aim - to boost times tables recall speeds.
What are the benefits of Times Table Rock Stars?
Incorrect answers are always immediately corrected in front of the pupil so that they start to associate the correct answer to every question.
The clever code behind the scenes works out which times tables facts each pupil is consistently taking longer to answer, and then it gradually starts to present these facts more frequently until pupils have mastered them.
It will also ask related division questions 20% of the time in order to reinforce division facts.
NUMBOTS:
At Whitemoor, we are aiming to boost the number sense of all of our pupils to help every child feel successful in maths. We believe that NUMBOTS is a fun and engaging way to support your child with this from home. All Key Stage 1 children have a login, and we expect children to engage with this as part of their homework.
