Parent Governors:

Emma Owen

I grew up in Luton, Bedfordshire and moved to the East Midlands when I went to Leicester to attend university. Here I studied Fine Art, specialising in painting and sculpture. I then moved to Nottingham, where I trained as a secondary school art teacher and then worked at a local secondary school for 5 years, before having my first child. I left teaching to pursue a self-employed career, alongside being a stay at home mum, as a freelance artist and tutor. After my second child started school, I started work as a design technology technician in a local secondary school.

I am a parent governor here at Whitemoor and am very proud that my children attend the school. I am honoured to be able to work with the school in this capacity, supporting staff to  strive to provide this community with high-quality education. I am passionate about keeping the high standards already set, whilst also focusing on developing the whole child and offering great opportunities to all pupils, enabling them to experience a wide range of activities beyond just the academic.

I am now the Deputy Head and oversee the Take Care Team which is responsible for the pastoral side to education.

Claire Calladine

I have worked at Whitemoor for over 12 years as a teaching assistant and more recently as a HLTA.  I joined the governing body in 2017. I have worked in the world of childcare for my entire career as a nanny, childminder and mother to two children before embarking on a career as a teaching assistant after both my daughters had started school.

I am passionate about every child having the access to a good education, no matter what their background or circumstances, which will arm them with skills to give them an equal opportunity to embark on whatever career they wish to in the future. I feel that our job as a school is to expose children to as many rich experiences and memories that will last them a lifetime.
