At Whitemoor, Personal Development is not a collection of separate activities. It is one coherent entitlement that combines character and conduct, taught knowledge, understanding of the wider world, rich experiences and meaningful opportunities to contribute. From Nursery to Year 6, pupils revisit these elements with increasing depth, independence and responsibility.

How the five strands work together
The Whitemoor Way establishes CHARACTER: Pupils explicitly learn and repeatedly practise how to Be Their Best Selves by behaving well, working hard, cooperating, persevering, showing respect and taking responsibility.
SCARF builds KNOWLEDGE: A progressive taught programme develops pupils’ knowledge of relationships, difference, safety, rights and responsibilities, physical and mental health, and growing and changing. This includes age-appropriate learning about diversity, families, stereotypes and the Protected Characteristics where relevant.
Picture News and the curriculum build UNDERSTANDING: Current affairs, Protected Characteristics, British Values and curriculum learning enable pupils to consider real issues, different perspectives, diversity and modern Britain.
Enrichment provides EXPERIENCE: Visits, visitors, clubs, sport, music, arts, performances and whole-school events broaden horizons and allow pupils to discover talents and interests.
Leadership enables pupils to CONTRIBUTE: School Council and other leadership and pupil-voice opportunities allow pupils to exercise responsibility, influence school life, support others and contribute positively.
What pupils are entitled to experience
Whitemoor’s current wider opportunities in practice
Current school records evidence curriculum-linked and wider visits, university and college experiences, performances, sport, arts and music, visitors and workshops, whole-school cultural and wellbeing events, Primary Parliament and other pupil leadership opportunities. These opportunities sit within the entitlement above rather than operating as isolated activities.
In one sentence…
We BE our best selves → we KNOW how to look after ourselves and others → we UNDERSTAND our world → we EXPERIENCE more → we CONTRIBUTE and make a difference.
